Walter Schmidt war freier Journalist, Schreibtrainer und Texter. Nach seinem Geographie-Studium in Saarbrücken und Vancouver besuchte er die Henri-Nannen-Schule und arbeitete u.a. als Pressesprecher für den BUND. 2011 erschien sein Buch «Dicker Hals und kalte Füße. Was Redensarten über Körper und Seele verraten. Eine heitere Einführung in die Psychosomatik», für das er den Publizistik-Preis der Stiftung Gesundheit erhielt. Walter Schmidt verstarb 2016.
