As evening falls, the sky over the Tuscan Chianti valley turns golden. The cicadas begin their song until the sun starts to set, and everything becomes still. Sometimes the moon rises among the cypress trees, holding onto the last light. When Hamburg goldsmith Julia Matthiesen, in her late twenties, first visits the picturesque village of Lucignano, she is captivated by the magic of the landscape. Her recently deceased grandfather was from here, and his family has always grown olives, but he never returned to his homeland and remained silent about what had happened.
Julia follows her grandfather's footsteps, aided by the attractive Italian Matteo Conti. They hear about a woman known as the "Black Owl" during their search. The story takes them back to the 1940s, the era of the "Resistenza", when Italian partisans hid in the mountains and fought against the fascists.
