Stephanie Petersen studierte in Leipzig Veterinärmedizin. Anschließend arbeitete sie in einer Berliner Kleintierklinik und ließ sich 2001 als Tierärztin für Groß- und Kleintiere auf Sylt nieder. Ihre besondere Vorliebe gilt alten Tieren samt ihrer teils schrulligen Eigenheiten. Auch zu ihrem Privatleben gehören neben ihren Söhnen selbstverständlich Tiere: Auf ihrem Hof leben fünf Hunde, von denen sie drei aus Tötungsstationen gerettet hat, 17 Hühner - und Stephanie Petersen betreibt eine Trakehner-Zucht.
